Let Go.

“Within you there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at anytime and be yourself.”

-Hermann Hesse

Stretch.
Breathe Deep.
Let Go.
Give yourself permission to let go of the thoughts that so easily beset you.
Mindfully let go of the tension in your body.
And allow yourself to drift effortlessly off to sleep as you create a place of stillness and beauty in your mind.

What was the highlight, lowlight and insight of your day?

This 30min track provides a simple guided thought download that can be done before bed; followed by a guided relaxation.

Process and let go of your day and then drift off to a deep restorative sleep tonight!

Do you remember the movie, "What About Bob?"!?

In the 1991 movie, Bill Murray, playing a troubled soul named Bob, is given a figurative prescription from Dr. Marvin to take “a vacation from his problems”.  Bob excitedly does just that and at one point in the movie, we see Bob has asked to be strapped to a ship mast to combat his fears of being out on the water and as the boat glides along the water, with complete joyful abandon, he exuberantly shouts, “I’m sailing! I’m sailing!”

Wouldn't it be amazing to feel like we were sailing through a difficult circumstance?

This visualization is dedicated to my dear friend, Becky, who is going through cancer transfusions right now and in desperate need of taking "a vacation from her problems" even if she can't physically go anywhere to escape.

Whether you are waiting to go in for a procedure to happen, the dentist to drill or stressing over an upcoming exam...there are times in our life when it is beneficial to listen to a guided meditation to bring awareness to the breath and help us let go of the worries before us...

So take a little vacation with me...your circumstance might not have changed, but you may be surprised at how much YOU can change in 26 minutes when you put your mind to it.

"Wherever you are. Be all there." -Jim Elliot

One of the ways you can practice "being all there" and more present is to bring awareness to specific senses. Focus on what you see, hear, smell, touch and taste.

Whether you pick just one sense or all five, you can "come to your senses" more fully wherever you are; during class, at a work meeting, at home or in the park...Doing an exercise like this one has a dual effect; it simultaneously wakes up your brain and brings clarity to thought, as well as calms the nerves. So whether you get easily distracted, need to come out of a mental fog and clear your head or feel a panic attack coming on...observing the feedback of your senses helps bring balance which helps all three scenarios!

Being present isn't about trying to silence the mind or resisting an emotion...it is about being very aware or the feelings, the thoughts and the body; accepting what is and learning from it.

Doing a mediation like this one helps you BE PRESENT by...
-Silently observing without judgement.
-Letting go of attachment to outcomes.
-Connecting with yourself and your surroundings.
-Quieting the "monkey mind"; which is constantly projecting into the future or rehashing the past.

Meet my good friend, Carolyn Barishman. As a full time mom to a young family, most of Carolyn's life revolves around sleep. As a yoga instructor she aims to help others calm their minds and bodies for restful, restorative sleep. Since rest can sometimes feel elusive, we use tools like breathing and meditation to relax the body and relieve the mind.

Carolyn sincerely hopes that by the time her toddlers have turned into teens they'll have this sleep thing down pat!

Until and through then, there's always yoga nidra!
