Episode 47: Light the World-A Special Interview with Ainsley’s Angels Ambassador Kristy High

Kristy High has been an educator for 23 years.  She started working with Ainsley’s Angels as a volunteer and it didn’t take long for her to want to make this organization a bigger part of her life.  She did all the training necessary to become an Ainsley Angels Ambassador and has headed up the North Central Indiana Chapter for 6 years.  Her chapter has grown exponentially which is no surprise to me.

I have worked with Kristy for the last 5 years and she is the first person who came to my mind when I was thinking about who I wanted to interview for this special Light the World episode!! Kristy goes above and beyond to serve and is passionate about raising awareness for inclusion for the incredible individuals in our communities with special needs.

Want to bring more JOY into your life? How about having a guaranteed “happy place” you can go to? You will not regret taking an hour to hear the incredible gems Kristy has to share and finding out how you can be a part of this incredible organization.

Some of my favorite quotes from Kristy…

  • Around here, we keep moving forward.

  • Your past doesn’t have to define you, it can shape you, but doesn’t define you.

  • I knew God prepared us to have Kendall, because we were not the same people we were 6 years before when we had started to try and have kids.

  • Everything happens for a reason and SOMEONE ELSE might need your reason.

  • It’s OK to mourn the loss of of what might have been.

  • Life is not a path from point A to point B…it is cyclical.

  • When you are used to being a minority, it is so empowering to feel a part of a community and it woke something inside me…I knew I needed to create more opportunities to feel this way.  Not just for me nut for others.

  • Don’t be afraid to try new experiences

  • Letting other people “lift” you up helps you bear your burdens.

  • We want everyone to be included to the fullest extent they can.

  • What kept us motivated when things were slow?

  1. The smiles of the riders.

    1. And then we saw how much the program was impacting the runners.

    2. And then I started having conversations with families of riders and how much this blessed their lives.

    3. IT IS THE ABSOLUTE JOY THAT COMES IN EVERY ASPECT OF THIS ORGANIZATION.
