Every single life on this earth matters and I am doing my best from my little corner of the world to reach more and more teen lives across the globe.

I know little actions can make a big difference…what little action will you take today?

Speaking of little actions. Today I am going to be talking about a little punctuation mark and how one person gave meaning to that mark it in such a profound way that it has resonated with people all over the world, including me.

Even after death of founder, Amy Bleuel in 2017, this symbol continues to bring hope to millions of people.

The semicolon has become the universal logo for mental health and suicide prevention.

Bleuel came up with the idea for the project in April 2013 when she urged those affected by mental illness to draw a semicolon on their wrist and post a photo on social media. The punctuation symbolizes a story that is not finished.

“A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to,” Bleuel said on her website. “The author is you and the sentence is your life.”

I always say, “Be the hero of your own story.” IN episode 13, which I have included in the show notes I go into a lot of detail about being the author, the director, the producer and the lead actor of your own story.  I think this is why Amy’s idea of using the semicolon to represent hope resonates so strongly with me.
