Episode 36: How a M.S. Rockstar Embraces Change

Everyone should feel like a rockstar regardless of age or circumstance!  Today you will meet Meisha Williams, a woman who knows how to rock life and embrace change like a superstar.  I met Meisha months ago through Chair yoga. Like everyone who meets Meisha, I was drawn to her Light and Courage and Iam so excited for you to hear her story today.

Meshia Williams is a 49 year old wife and mother of two sons. She has lived all over, first growing up in a military family and then being married to a military man! She's been physically active her whole life and enjoyed being an event planner, public speaker and working with raising money for the Cancer Association.

Her varied jobs and activities came to an abrupt halt in 2017 when a sudden and unexplained paralysis took over her otherwise healthy body. A diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis would change her and her family's lives forever.

With her world doing a complete 180-degree turn, Meshia had to  rely on her faith as well as  learn coping techniques to deal with her changing body and changing lifestyle. Practicing mindfulness has become not only her new way of living but it has truly saved her life.

Today you will learn 6 ways Meisha is able to embrace her new path.

  1. Let go of stigmas and let go of “should’s”. Let go of comparisons and have faith.

  2. Trust your gut & advocate for yourself and what you need to thrive.

  3. Decide how you want to show up. "The part I play is up to me."

  4. You can choose to focus on discomfort and pain…and the thoughts will multiply, it will consume your life and take you to a dark place and suck you down like quicksand...Or you can choose to focus on the things that you can do and bring in a positive thought for every negative one…combat the dark with the light.

  5. Become a new version of yourself and figure out different ways to exude confidence.

  6. Think of ways to keep things new and fresh regardless of what your circumstance is. It was very discouraging when she broke her legs and would have been easy to give up hope…but she used this as a new mantra “I will take a break from the known and try new things” (try new things, new restaurants, connect with new people…) when you keep things new and fresh, it keeps things light and you stay above the dark places.
