Episode 38: “The Easy and The Hard” with Former NBA Player Britton Johnsen
For over 20 years, Britton Johnsen has had the opportunity to uplift and inspire others by speaking about his unique experiences ranging from playing on a final-four basketball team to traveling the world as a professional basketball player. As a parent of teens and a successful businessman, Britton knows how to present the realities of life in a way that motivates both youth groups and corporate America alike.
Britton was born and raised in Murray Utah. He was selected as a McDonalds All American, a Parade All American, and Utah's 1997 Mr. Basketball. He went on to play for the University of Utah under Rick Majerus and was a key factor in their final-four run. In 2001, he was awarded Mountain West Conference player of the year. After an injury-plagued senior season he was an undrafted rookie , but through hard work earned himself a spot on the Orlando Magic roster. He then did stints with the Indiana Pacers, the New Orleans Hornets, and in the minor leagues before taking his career overseas, playing in Spain, France, Turkey, and Greece.
Since playing basketball, Britton has run successful basketball camps for over a decade, been an NBA analyst for the Jazz and held tournaments to raise money for women's shelters and programs like "Especially For Athletes". He helps motivate listeners to create opportunities in life through choosing hard decisions over easy ones each moment of the day.

Some of today's take aways...
1. "Hard things" ie circumstances & situations are a part of life.
2. When you lean into "hard things" you shift from "victim mode" ie life is happening TO ME and into "hero mode" ie life is happening FOR ME & I get to choose how I want to move through it. It may bring up emotions that are uncomfortable/ones you don't want to feel like frustration, disappointment, humility and heartache.
3. You may want to numb those feelings or keep yourself distracted or choose "the easy" to avoid the feelings, but choosing "the easy" always ends up making things harder in other ways.
4. When you do "hard things" you open up doors of opportunity and you see that there are so many different paths that can bring joy into your life.
5. Doing hard things you create a pattern in your life and things that were once hard become easier.
6. Doing hard things also brings satisfaction, freedom, independence, self-pride and confidence.
CHALLENGE: CREATE YOUR OWN LIST OF EASY AND HARD THINGS!!
