Episode 67: Boundaries- Why You Should Be Setting Them!

Boundaries isn't just an idea that is trending now or just a catchy buzz word to use.   Setting healthy boundaries is a way of living that will set you free, strengthen your relationships and improve your mental health.

Today I talk about the benefits of setting boundaries, what it means to have a boundary and I debunk some of the myths about setting boundaries that make us hesitant to do it.

Today is BOUNDARIES: PART ONE!

Some of the benefits of setting healthy boundaries are:

  1. Improve self-care; stop overextending yourself & burnout.

  2. Live with integrity (be the same inside & out).

  3. Increase self esteem, self confidence and self respect.

  4. Promotes autonomy (for yourself & others!).

  5. Increase your ability to be intuitive to your own needs and base your decisions off of internal feedback.

  6. Decrease judgment and criticism of others.

  7. Create better communication skills and communicate needs clearer.

  8. Release anger, resentment and bitterness.

  9. Protect your values and what is important to you in a respectful way.

  10. Increase emotional health by feeling understood and accepted.

  11. Decrease stress and anxiety.

  12. Help combat other psychological symptoms like depression, addictions etc.

What is a boundary?
-What is me and what is not me?
-Where do I begin and end?
-What do I have ownership of and have responsibility for and what is not my responsibility?
